| Q. WHAT PAYMENT METHODS ARE AVAILABLE TO ME TO PAY FOR MY ADVERTISEMENT? Please submit payment with the advertisement, unless otherwise arranged. The advertisement will not be posted until payment has been received. These fees may be paid by either cash, postal order, cheque payable to 'madeira4u', bank transfer to NIB 0010 0000 35693050002 14 quoting a reference to identify you to match to your advert, or through Paypal for debit or credit cards using the email address paypal@madeira4u.com. Payments in currencies other than euros can be accepted through paypal, but more options may be available on request. Please use the 'Contact Us' form to find the address to post payments and obtain further information. If you are outside of Madeira and having a problem, please ask us for alternative payment methods, as we also have access to a banking facilities in the United Kingdom. If you are sending a payment separately from your advertisement (ie, you email the advert and post the cheque), please make sure the two are cross referenced. |
| Q. I WOULD LIKE TO PLACE AN ADVERT IN THE RESOURCES & INFORMATION SECTION, IS THIS POSSIBLE? Yes, but as these pages provide public service information, we want this information to stand out, so sizes and spaces are limited. Despite the fact that these pages represent premium advertising space, we regret we cannot accept full page advertisements in this section. If you still wish to continue, please send us details or a copy of your proposed advertisement, specifying the actual web page you have in mind for displaying your advertisement, and we will get back to you promptly with sizes and availability. |
| Q. I HAVE TO SEND SOME PHOTOGRAPHS FOR A PROPERTY I WISH TO SELL AND I AM NOT SURE HOW TO DO IT, CAN YOU HELP PLEASE? Of course we are pleased to help with any difficulties you may have. The easiest and quickest way is to send your photographs by email attachment. First put your advert text in the body of the email, with your instructions. Then attaching your documents will be done by finding a button or drop down menu on your email account page. If you click on this it will ask you where the picture(s) are stored, and you have the option to browse your files, folders, my computer, or desktop to find them. Once you have located the picture double click on the icon, and it should load itself ready to be attached. You may have to repeat this if you have more than one photograph. Your email should be ready to send then. I hope this helps, but if not you can ask a friend, or as a last resort if you can copy the photographs to a disk (floppy or CD) and post them to us using the address provided on the 'contact us' page. |
| Q. I have a business in Germany, and I would like to advertise my products on madeira4u. I also would like to employ a sales person on Madeira. As I am not on Madeira, can I advertise with you? Yes, we would be delighted to host your advertisements. Advertising on madeira4u is available to anyone who supplies products and services which are available to Madeira, as well as businesses based on Madeira. If you can send details of both your product and vacancy advertisements, we can put these on the website within a couple of days. |
| Q. I have looked through your advertising rates and found there are 2 levels, why is this and what difference does it make? Put simply, the website is split into two parts, the 'guide book' for everything about Madeira on the yellow & orange menu bars, and the advertising directory on the grey & green menu bars. The 'guide book' to everything about Madeira is primarily a service to website users who require information and resources, and as such advertising space is very limited, and the categories of advertising in those sections are very much 'flavoured' towards those users. The trade advertising directory (Products & Services - Classified Ads) is there mainly for the purpose of advertising, and the very low pricing structure reflects that. The choice between premium and directory advertising is of course yours. In addition, 'Property sales and rentals' and 'Cars for sale' also have different rates, as those advertisements are 'one-offs'. |
| Q. I already have a large advert in the Madeira Yellow Pages, what benefit would an advertisement on madeira4u give me? Your advertisement in the Madeira Yellow Pages I am sure was a good investment, and it advertises your business to Portuguese speaking people living on Madeira, but that's as far as it goes. With a million plus english speakers coming to the island each year (4 times the population of Madeira) and those numerous english speakers already living here, then already you have a good investment by advertising with madeira4u. However, your advertisement will also be visible worldwide, so if you export goods, that will be valuable, or if you provide goods or a service to visitors to Madeira, then they can find out about you in advance, and again that could be a good revenue source. Look at the map on our home page to get some idea of where madeira4u users are situated. Also, whilst the Yellow Pages serve a useful purpose, its nothing compared to what madeira4u can do. You mentioned that you had a small restaurant, so using that example, how will people find you? In the Yellow Pages, you are only visible to people who have a landline telephone, in a world where the sole use of mobile phones is gradually becoming the norm, and they look in the section for restaurants and choose one that catches their eye from amongst 100's of other restaurants ... a bit of a lottery really. If you advertise on madeira4u, with details of your specialities, say espada, then through an internet search anyone in the world can go directly to your restaurant page by typing in the relevant keywords (say 'madeira' & 'restaurant' & 'espada', for example). That is not going to happen every time I admit, but if as a result of their search they find their way to the madeira4u website and do a site search using the same keywords, then for sure they will come up on your page, or they can just click on the relevant section from the front page. If you also advertise on the advertising page for 'Calheta' for example, then anyone visiting Calheta only has to do a very quick search to find all the businesses and attractions in Calheta on one page, and if you have an eye catching advert, you have a good chance of benefiting from that. The best thing to do is try us. It's a very small investment to make for a big business opportunity. |
| Q. Why can't I send my advertisement to you by fax? Its for your benefit really, for several reasons. Firstly the quality of the image will be reduced at both ends of the faxing process, and secondly any text embedded in the image will not be searchable through any of the internet search engines (Google etc.), nor will it be searchable through the excellent madeira4u website search engine, because the text is electronically unreadable. If you send it in the correct format, preferably by email attachment, it overcomes these problems and is more reliable generally. |

| Q. You say that advertising is free in 2007, what's the catch? There is no catch, but as the minimum term for advertising (unless withdrawn beforehand) is a year, if you pay for 2008 we are giving the remainder of 2007 free. So if you apply this month, then your advertisement will stay online until the end of December 2008. Not only that, the sooner you place your advertisement, the more chance you have of appearing near the top, although we cannot guarantee that position, depending on demand. As you have probably already read, the cost of renewal is also reduced by 20% if it is done before the expiry date of an existing advertisement, so there are some really good deals for planning ahead. |
| Q. HOW DO I PLACE A CLASSIFIED ADVERT WITHIN PRODUCTS & SERVICES CATEGORY? 1. Decide which page you want to advertise on and pick your advertisement size from the sizes on offer. 2. Design your advertisement, so it fits in the box, or madeira4u can reduce it or resize it for you. If your advertisement shape is a different shape than the templates chosen, it will be reshaped to the same amount of surface area as the size chosen and paid for (so it will retain your original design shape). Or, madeira4u can design and construct the advert for you for an extra charge of €5. If you wish to select a template background for your advert, select one from here and quote the code in red. We can also translate portuguese into english if you choose this option. 3. After agreeing to the terms & conditions, send the advertisement design, or size, text and other information, including the name of the categories you wish your advert to appear, to sales@madeira4u.com or by post, using the address on the 'contact us' page, with the payment or the bank transfer details. 4. Wait a maximum of 5 days (allowing extra time for submissions by post, and payment clearance if applicable), then check your advertisement is in place and correct. If it is not, please email our sales team. |
