| Ribeira Brava - Home of 'Centro Desportivo de Madeira' / The Sporting Centre Of Madeira Set in a beautiful location on the south coast of Madeira Island, Ribeira Brava Town has a population of under 5,000. Steep valleys either side of the town keep it well protected for the comfort of residents and tourists alike. For those who like a warmer climate, Ribeira Brava is the sunniest town on Madeira, with dry and temperate weather and consistent daily temperatures. In summer, the daytime temperature is generally in the high twenties, whilst in winter this would be more in the low twenties. The sea temperature is also very consistent, varying only a few degrees upwards from it's winter low of around 19ºC. Ribeira Brava is well situated on the island, being around 30 minutes drive from the airport, and around 20 minutes from Funchal and the high standard hotels. Excellent bus services run to and from the town, and there are taxi's in abundance where needed. Ribeira Brava itself has several hotels and accommodations, several nice restaurants, and numerous bars and cafes. Nightlife is limited to those facilities, although there are regular events laid on through the council and other organisations. Ribeira Brava also has its own professional football team, who play at the sports stadium. There are 3 large supermarkets in the town and numerous small shops, especially for clothes, shoes, and hairdressers. |
