Resources & Information - TV & Radio Channels on Madeira
Television Channels

Due to Madeira's mountainous landscape, there is little scope for TV through standard rooftop aerials, and hence
there are very few channels available or with a signal strong enough to watch.

The TV service in Madeira, in the main provided by CaboTV, runs at several levels, the
basic provides over 30
channels. The next
level (2) uses a powerbox to receive at least 70 extra channels (largely at no extra charge),
and then there are the
premium channels with a monthly charge. Not all the channels available are listed.

Those channels shown in larger print are partly or completely in the english language (where the word 'english'
is used, it refers to the language rather than the country of the programme origin).

Radio
Due to the mountainous terrain of Madeira, outside of Funchal normally only 2 radio station
signals are strong enough to pick up clearly, Antena 1 & Antena 3, both in portuguese.
Although there are more with a short wave radio. However, there are over 20 other
portuguese radio stations that can be picked up through the CaboTV powerbox, many
playing english and american music around the clock.
